Deutsch als Fremdsprache.

I have been learning the German language for almost a year now. I started during Junior year when Goethe-Institut Philippinen offered classes at the Ateneo de Manila High School. I remember getting the letter of invitation to be part of the classes and thinking to myself, why should I bother in the first place? The only German I knew that time was Heidi Klum's line to all eliminated contestants in Project Runway, Auf Wiedersehen. I took a risk and enrolled myself.

Everything started as a joke and never did I imagine myself falling in love with the language. Eventually, I became interested and passionate in learning the German language. I was even fortunate enough to be part of the very first group of Filipinos to be sent to Germany for a language course by Goethe-Institut Philippinen. I stayed in Sankt Peter Ording, Schleswig-Holstein for 3 weeks touring the northern part of Germany and extensively studying the language as well. It was fulfilling to be able to converse with locals in German comfortably and quite fluently. I surely won't forget Summer 2010 because of my Jugendkurs in Germany.

Philippines x Thailand @ Deutschland
Until now, I am still learning the language. Things are a bit different now with the way I am learning since my classes in German have ended weeks ago. I am independently learning it through my textbooks in class and conversing daily in German with my friends in Deutschland. I am reviewing and studying everything again during the summer to brush up on my German.

My handy-dandy kit in learning German.
There are also websites I access which help me tremendously. http://dict.leo.org/ is a very reliable and efficient online Deutsch-Englisch dictionary. http://conjd.cactus2000.de/ is a website which helps you conjugate your verbs in German in all possible tenses. If you are learning the language as well, these websites will definitely help you.

Deutsch  x Englisch Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
One of my pending plans this summer is to finish reading Dear John by Nicholas Sparks in German. I absolutely fell in love with his novel when I read it in English and decided to buy the German version of it. My professor when I was in Germany advised me to read novels in German to help me learn more and be comfortable with the language. I hope I would have the time and patience to read it!

My passion with the language also helped me choose my course in college and my future career path. I would be taking up AB European Studies International Relations and would be minoring in the German language at the Ateneo de Manila University. I cannot wait to learn some more German in college. Now that it is summer , I will do the learning and studying on my own. Bring it on!

If you want to learn the German language, just go to the website of Goethe-Institut Philippinen @ http://www.goethe.de/ins/ph/map/enindex.htm?wt_sc=manila. All of the necessary info is there.

I do hope and pray that someday I will be back in Germany. Hopefully, sophomore or junior year in college. I must be part of the group who do summer tours in Germany or be an exchange student!

That's all for now xo!

Alles Liebe,
Pologee :-)
